We’re made to move!

We are meant to move. That’s something I believe deeply — not just as a dancer, but as a human being. Our bodies were designed for movement. And yet, with modern life speeding everything up around us, we’re ironically slowing down. Sitting more. Scrolling more. Moving less.
But comfort isn’t always good for us. Without regular movement, our physical and mental well-being can suffer. That doesn’t mean we all need to hit the gym or run marathons. It means we need to find movement that brings us joy — and make it part of our lives. For me, that’s dancing.
How I found my "made to move" activity?
Instead of pushing weights in a fitness studio, I followed rhythm and music. Dance has a way of working the body and soul. It challenges us, lifts us, makes us feel alive. And through dance, I eventually found my way to the world of Irish dancing — a path that led me to many different styles, each beautiful and rich in its own way.
But one style stood out — the one that captured my heart: Sean nós dancing.

What’s So Special About Sean Nós?
Sean nós (pronounced “shan nohss”) means “old style” in Irish. It’s a raw, earthy solo dance that evolved organically — never standardised. And that’s exactly why I love it. It’s loose, expressive, rhythmic, spontaneous… and just a little weird (in the best possible way).
It’s not just about technique. It’s about connection — especially to music. Traditional Irish music isn’t just background sound. It’s full of conversation, emotion, and rhythm. Once you start listening deeply, you begin to respond to it. With your feet. With your body. And with your own personality.
Sean nós invites you to improvise, explore, and create your own voice through dance. You’re not just learning steps. You’re learning to express.

I Can’t Promise You a Formula. But I Can Walk With You
Sean nós isn’t something you “get certified in.” It’s not about perfection. It’s a personal journey — and everyone’s path looks a little different.
What I can offer you is guidance through the foundations:
The basic steps used by most dancers
How to combine them creatively
How to dance to music — not just with it
How to listen, respond, and begin finding your own style
If you’re curious to try it — whether you’re a total beginner or already have a little experience — I’d love to invite you to one of my upcoming online events, workshops or studio class.
📩 Send me a message (tereza@inspiraldance.net) or check out my current offerings on this web page — and maybe this old Irish dance style will speak to you too.
Let’s dance. Let’s move. Let’s have fun.
Because this journey is yours — and you’re absolutely worth it. ☘️
