Today, especially in big cities, we have an almost endless range of leisure activities to choose from. The options are vast – from arts and sports to various personal development classes. Even if we’re not sure whether we’ll stick with something, why not give it a try if it sparks even a little curiosity? Movement in any form is always a good choice – not only for our physical health, but for our mental well-being too.
Dance is one of those activities that connects the body, mind, and emotions. It’s expression, play, technique, and art all at once. Some people dance just for the joy of it, others take part in competitions. And it’s in the competitive world where we often lose sight of what matters most – joy.
What drives us to dance? A love for movement or pressure to perform?
Everyone who has ever started dancing began with a certain spark. They enjoyed it. They felt free, excited, challenged. But more and more dancers, especially those who compete, eventually face doubts: “What if I mess up? What if I don’t win? What if I disappoint my coach, my parents, myself?”

It’s completely natural to feel nervous. But when fear of ranking becomes the main motivation, we lose the true meaning of the activity. A leisure pursuit should never feel like an obligation. It’s a choice. And it should be driven by inner motivation, joy, and a sense of growth.

Competitions are great – but not at any cost.
Competitions are a fantastic way to push yourself, gain experience, and stay motivated. But results should never define our relationship with dance. Success isn’t just about medals – it’s about how you feel on the floor. It’s about what dance gives you in everyday life. It’s about how you connect with music, your body, and your partner or group.
Dance teaches discipline, self-development, and gratitude. It helps us face challenges and embrace failure. It teaches us to be present. Whether we're dancing in a studio, on a competition floor, or just in our living room – that feeling of truly losing yourself in movement is priceless. That’s the moment worth seeking and nurturing.

At inSpiral Dance Company, This Is the Path We Support
We want everyone to feel good – no matter what their goal is. Whether someone dreams of competition success or simply wants to enjoy dance as a form of movement and self-expression, what matters most is that their journey is meaningful, playful, and fulfilling. We support different paths, but we always emphasize joy and well-being as essential parts of the process.
What Dominates – Fear or Joy?
Ask yourself this question often. And don’t be afraid to choose joy – it’s the most powerful fuel to keep you dancing.
