Irish dance
together.

Set dancing & Céilí

Irish social dances are a wonderful way to experience Irish music through movement.

You don’t need any dance experience or a partner – just the willingness to join in.

Set dancing

Relaxed social dancing in a set

Set dancing is most commonly danced in square formations – four couples create a square formation called a set.

Each dance consists of several parts called figures – shorter dances that together create the complete set. One full set can last up to 20 minutes.

People of all ages enjoy set dancing. You don’t need to master the stepping technique to enjoy the dance.

→ Dancing in couples within a set formation
→ Each set consists of 3 or more figures
→ Each dance has a clearly defined structure and length
→ You can join even without knowing the steps

Céilí dancing

Dances made for social gatherings

Céilí dances are another form of Irish social dancing.

They are varied, energetic and often easy for complete beginners to join.

Many céilí dances use the same stepping technique known from soft shoe Irish step dancing – such as sidesteps or promenades.

→ Dances in various formations
→ Dancing in couples or groups of three
→ Easy to join and learn

Trial classes and cultural programs

“I contacted Tereza Bernardová from inSpiral Dance Company to ask whether it would be possible to organise an Irish dance workshop for around 30–40 people during a birthday celebration.

After arranging everything, our teachers Tea and Markéta guided us through several Irish dances in pairs and groups within one hour.

We got out of breath, laughed a lot, and even managed to successfully finish some dances.

The event was amazing. It was a wonderful addition and entertainment for the celebration. Everyone enjoyed it, and age really didn’t matter. Even eight-year-old children joined in and danced the whole time. And those of us in our sixties got our muscles and joints moving to the fast rhythm.

I loved that no preparation, special clothes, or dance experience were needed — just the desire to have fun. And that worked 100%.

I’m so happy this idea turned out so well and brought something completely different to the celebration.

It definitely wasn’t the last time. Thank you to the wonderful and patient teachers.”
