IRISH DANCE FOR ADULTS

A nice team, an individual approach, but also the opportunity to exercise regularly, to learn a dance style that only a small percentage of people in the Czech Republic can do, yet it is popular all over the world, this and much more in a very friendly and relaxed environment.

SOLO DANCE

The basics of Irish step dancing

Irish dance basics we teach in the form of several short-term courses. The taught material is loaded gradually over the time and thus gives a chance to absorb well this new skill.

10 week course for complete beginners is the first introduction to Irish solo dancing in soft and heavy shoes. The tuition focuses only on the most basic steps and dance technique.

In the first year dancers learn the basic steps and most solo dances in soft and heavy shoes at the beginner level. It is very intense, but the result is worth it.

First solo dances

The next part of tuition is devoted to the first solo dances. In courses of Irish step dancing - solo dances 1 and solo dances 2 - previously gained knowledge is practised in short choreographies.  Additional dance rhythms are gradually introduced and the range expands.  In each course, with a length of 12 lessons, two dances in soft shoes and one in heavy shoes will be presented. A total of 6 dances in 24 weeks, is a very decent foundation for further dancing.

I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to start Irish dancing. A great instructor, a great atmosphere and well-thought-out teaching so that even a complete beginner can master the dances and at the same time learn a lot during 10 weeks. Ten points out of ten.  :-)

After completing the first three courses, we usually recommend continuing at the same level in step dancing lessons for beginners and establish well the gained knowledge. As part of this tuition, we work with dance technique, dances are repeated and new ones are learned and gradually reaching next, PRIMARY, levels.

Other Irish dance courses

Ceilí dances

Ceilí dances belong to a group of Irish social dances. They provide an opportunity for people to meet and enjoy traditional music and dance. Compared to the more complex footwork of Irish step dancing, ceilí dances have a simple and more accessible footwork. This makes them more inclusive and suitable for people of all ages and skill levels. Although similar to other folk dances, ceilí dances have their own unique charm and are an integral part of Irish cultural traditions.

Sean nós dancing

Sean nós dancing is a solo style of Irish dance. It allows for a great deal of personal interpretation and improvisation. It is danced close to the ground and the dancers complement the musical accompaniment through rhythmic variations. No special shoes are needed for this type of dance. Sean nós is often seen in more relaxed and informal settings such as social gatherings, pubs or informal ceilí dances.
