Tutor | Tin / Low whistle
Daniela Vranová
Originally from the Valašsko region, she studied flute performance at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava and has experience with a variety of ensembles (cimbalom band, opera orchestra, improvisational new-age project, guitar duo, and a baroque instrument ensemble). She has been a longtime member of the Prague Chamber Orchestra (KOA), where she plays both the flute and piccolo. She also created an online course for adults learning to play the recorder. Her study travels sparked an interest in the traditional music of Ireland and the British Isles, which she has been exploring since 2009, when she co-founded the group Rí Ra. In 2010, she performed with the group at the Fleadh in Cavan, Ireland. This band is currently her main project, where she not only plays the flute, tin whistle, and low whistle, but also provides vocals and acts as the band leader. From 2016 to 2021, she was also a member of the folk-rock band Asonance, which focuses on Scottish music. Additionally, Daniela is a popular music instructor at Bernard's Summer School.

Tutor | Tin / Low whistle
Matúš Smolko
Matúš is a musician who specializes in playing the tin whistle and Irish flute. He comes from Košice, Slovakia, where he played the soprano recorder during his childhood. Later, he became interested in Irish traditional music and learned to play the tin whistle and low whistle. In 2011, he became a member of the local band Cailleach, where he played as the whistle player. After moving to Brno in 2014, he quickly integrated into the local session community. During that time, he led the folk-metal project Cathalian and worked as a touring musician for Cailleach and another Slovak Irish folk band, Irish Rose. In 2017, he adopted the Irish flute as his primary instrument and also became a member of the group Dálach, where he continues to play to this day. In 2019, he became a full-time member of Irish Rose as well. In 2021, he moved to Prague, where, in collaboration with other musicians, he began organizing slow sessions to help beginners ease into the world of traditional Irish music sessions note by note. He has also taught tin whistle at Bernard’s Summer School in Prague and the FolCon festival in Brno.
